After a solid few weeks of training and racing in Bermuda Tyler Butterfield will be in Mexico this weekend to compete in the Huatulco ITU Triathlon. Butterfield’s wins in the Catlin National Olympic Distance Triathlon Championships and the Tokio Millennium Sprint Triathlon were good preparation for this upcoming Olympic distance race although in Mexico the bike will be draft legal.
This event which gets underway at 11.45AM Bermuda time this Sunday 15th June is not part of the high profile world series so will not feature the world’s leading Olympic distance triathletes but it has as usual attracted many of South and Central America’s leading triathletes and a smattering of US, European, Asian and Canadian triathletes. If all goes well Tyler should at least podium on Sunday.
