Chris Eaton and Matt Thompson both completed the Mt.Tremblant North American Ironman Championships today, Sunday 17th August 2014.
Matt finished 46th in the 40-44 age group and 217th overall in 10 hrs 42 mins and 58 secs. He completed the 2.4 mile swim in 1hr 4 mins and 6 secs, the 112 mile bike in 5:44:27 and the 26.2 mile run in 3:44:40.
Chris finished in 11:35:54 with splits of 1:36:40 (swim) – 5:50:08 (bike) and 3:50:52 (run), good enough for 63rd in the 45-49 age group and 531st overall.
The mens’ rae was won by the USA’s TJ Tollakson who will be one of the favorites at the Hawaii Ironman World Championships in Hawaii in October. He finished well ahead of his nearest rival in 8 hrs 16 mins and 17 secs ( 19 mins ahead of 2nd place Daniel Hawksworth. TJ averaged over 25 miles an hour for the 112 mile bike and then completed the marathon in 2:54:21.
Sara Gross of Victoria, Canada won the womens’ race in 9 hrs 40 mins and 26 secs.
