Flora Duffy continued her stunning performances in Xterra this year by winning the XTerra US National Championships in Utah today, Saturday 20th September.

Flora’ s time of 2hrs 38 mins and 13 secs for the 1.5km swim, 28km mountain bike and 10km trail run was over 6 minutes quicker than silver medalist Barbara Riveiros who finished in 2hrs 44 mins 28 secs. As expected Flora was 1st out of the water and after a storming bike had a lead of over 5 minutes going into the run. Flora then extended that lead to romp home in emphatic fashion. Reigning XTerra World Champion Lesley Paterson was 3rd in 2hrs 46 mins 24 secs.

Duffy’s win adds to her US East and West Xterra Regional Championships, Asia Pacific Championships and South African Championship titles and her 2nd place finish at the International Triathlon Union’s Cross World Championships.

The win will give Flora great confidence going into the XTerra World Championships in Hawaii on Sunday October 26th, 2014.

Her friends and training partners, South Africans  Brad Weiss and Dan Hugo were 4th and 5th respectively in the men’s race which was won by Reuben Rufaza.
