The unpredictable weather has not deterred the athletes in the Neill Blake Camp as both Sunday and Mondays sessions produced excellent turnouts.
At Sunday’s morning session the coaches gave the Beginners a chat on the sport’s background followed by bike handling skills and transition practices and a mini triathlon to finish off. There was some great feedback from the participants.
Sunday afternoon’s Advanced bike ride from Astwood Park saw the large group divided into three and most riders completed the 3 hour endurance ride with some opting for a shorter ride.
Monday morning the same large Advanced group were up early for 5.30AM sprints along North Shore. In the dark coach Jasper Blake came alongside one rider and offered them encouragement and advise only to realize that he wasn’t in the camp group !! 10 of the riders joined the coaches for breakfast at Bouchee.
Monday evening the three coaches were joined by Victor Ruberry at the National Stadium Pool for the Beginners pool session who were joined by quite a few of the Advanced group looking to hone their swim skills. The session ended with a quick relay race for the 20 participants in 5 teams of four.
As in previous years the coaches have been impressed with the enthusiasm of the athletes.
