Alex and Nick Pigrim and Lyndsey Palmer raced yesterday, Sunday 15th March, in the Sarasota Florida F1 Youth Sprint Series Race for 12-16 year olds over 375m swim, 6.4km bike amd 2.5km run. The bike was advertised as 10km but ended up being a one lap 6.4km
Competing in her first major race overseas and her first “draft legal” race, Lyndsey was an impressive 14th out of 35 starters with a time of 31:04 (5 min 56 sec swim, 12 min16 sec bike,11 min 40 sec run). The girls’ race was won by Addison Smith of the USA in 27 mins 58 secs.
Alex finished in 27 min 33 secs good enough for 10th place out of a field of 38 starters. He completed the swim in 5:24 to come out of the water with a group chasing the two leaders. Alex recorded a time of 10 mins 41secs for the bike and finished off with a 10 min 17 sec run.
12 year old Nick followed up his excellent race in the Clermont F1 Series race in Clermont the week before by finishing 26th ( 3rd 12 year old) in 30 min 34 secs ( 6:11 swim, 10:59 bike and12:16 run).
The boys’ race was won by Luis Ortiz of the USA in 26 min 24 secs.
