Flora Duffy arrived in Australia this week with two bikes ( one road / one mountain) to take on round 3 of the ITU World Cup Triathlon Series in the World Cup Gold Coast Triathlon, one of the oldest races on the international triathlon calendar, and the Asia Pacific XTerra Championships where she will be the defending champion and a strong favorite to repeat in 2015. After a 7 year absence a world cup series race returns to the Gold Coast. After capturing bronze in the opening race of the season at Abu Dhabi, Flora will be full of confidence and on a technical, though flat, bike course over the full 40km bike ( Abu Dhabi was 20km) Flora will no doubt be hoping to exit the swim with the leaders and pull some good riders with her to open up a gap before the run. This tactic worked well in Abu Dhabi and a small group of riders on a technical course could put some time on a larger pack as they negotiate the corners.
