The popular Argo Re Series is well underway at Clearwater Beach, St. David’s with a mixture of more experienced triathletes, beginners and families taking part.
Congratulations to Tucker Murphy, who won the opening race on 14th May. Matt Thompson in second pushed him hard until losing a little ground on the run. One of the new faces, Chris Hands, grabbed third place.
The leading lady was a “young veteran”: Laura Hope has been coming to the Super Sprints virtually since she was crawling. Well done, Laura. Liz Stewart–modelling a new, hot pink tri-suit–was second, with Rebecca Harrison in third.
Well done to Chris Harris for placing first overall at Race 2. . Otis Ingham resumed last year’s achievements with a strong (at least) second place and Randy Smith continued his own improvement with a first podium place, in third spot–and has Otis in his sights. Junior Laura Hope was, for the second week in a row, our leading lady.
The third race of this year’s series took place in tough conditions, with even the relatively sheltered waters of Clearwater Beach being rough thanks to strong winds which must have made the bike a challenge. It’s hardly surprising that there was a somewhat small field.Well done to Tucker Murphy, who stormed into first place, followed by Dirk Hasselkuss and David Soutter. Liz Stewart was the first (admittedly only!) lady home. Nico Davis was the first junior to finish.
It is great to see so many families represented at these races with Dirk Hasselkus and daughters Jasmin and Zoe, Roz Wingate and kids Rowdy and Roxy, Dave and Jane Hope and Laura, the Ingham crew and Chris and Megan Hands competing regularly ! I think some of the Smiths participating are related as well ( someone fill me in by posting a comment !!)
