Bermuda’s younger triathletes at the Trimemphre Triathlon in Quebec, Canada more than matched the performances of our older triathletes yesterday as they took two podium places.
Leading the way was Nick Pilgrim who competed in the Quebec Cup for 11/12 year olds. Nick was first off the bike and finished 2nd overall out of 42 competitors in 41 mins 24 secs. Caleb Ingham also finished in the top half of the field as he was 19th in 45 mins 54 secs.
Blake Oliviera also took a podium as he finished 2nd out of 43 in the boys under 11 competition in 27 mins 46 secs. Zoe Hasselkuss produced a top ten finish in the same age group as she finished 7th out of 62 in 30:25. Lindsay Smith (22nd in 32:57), Megan Hands (26th in 33:13) and Lianna Medeiros (27th in 33:15) also did Bermuda proud as they finished in the top half of the field.
Even though he has not been competing in triathlon, Charlie Pilgrim entered the 16-19 sprint event and finished 14th in the 16-19 age group in 1hr 28 mins 43 secs.
Three parents, Julia Hawley, Otis Ingham and Tom Hands entered the Olympic Distance team event, finishing 7th in the Mixed category.
