NEIL’S XTERRA WORLDS RACE REPORT – SOUNDS LIKE FUN

HERE IS NEIL’S RACE REPORT AND TO MAKE MATTERS WORSE HIS GARMIN WAS STOLEN IN TRANSITION OFF HIS BIKE WHILST HE WAS ON THE RUN !!

Quite honestly it was totally brutal………….. It was a crazy swim with all age group men and all age group women in just two waves………..was like a boxing match for 1500m……..

The bike was good as it dried out (Wednesday it was a mud bath……….) but you cannot train in Bermuda for this race as the climbs are huge and go on for ever. Stayed upright.

The run was 3 miles up and 3.5 down in a nutshell – I fell twice on the run skinning my knees……………

Soo hot it was crazy………………………………

Now I understand why the finish medal says “Xterra Survivor”!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Flora Duffy exited the water in the top 5 overall with close to a six minute lead over mountain bike specialist Lesley Paterson and although Lesley closed it down to 1 min 37 secs going into the run, it was Flora who ran the toughest finishing over 4 minutes ahead of Paterson to retain her XTerra world title.
