Flora Duffy will be on the start line this Saturday 9th April as the ITU World Triathlon Series resumes in Gold Coast, Australia.
After her 4th place finish in Abu Dhabi in her last series race, Flora will be full of confidence but also knows that the field assembled in this race is a stellar one. In addition, in Abu Dhabi a crash took out some of the leading contenders.
The ITU website write up had this to say :
Other significant names racing this weekend is Flora Duffy (BER), Andrea Hewitt (NZL), Lisa Norden (SWE) andMari Rabie (RSA). Duffy is already qualified for the Olympics and just missed the podium in Abu Dhabi by taking fourth. The outstanding cyclist has been creeping higher and higher in the rankings and will be looking for a medal this round.
It will be a tough ask for Flora with world champion, Gwen Jorgensen, undefeated since 2014, returning to race alongside virtually all of the world’s leading triathletes, including world no.1 Jodie Stimpson of the UK. Add to the mix is that if an Australian places in the top ten they will qualify for Rio and so the very best Australians will have added incentive to perform at this their home series event.
Racing gets underway tonight, Friday 8th April at 8.30PM Bermuda time. Go to WWW.ITU.ORG to see how to sign up to watch the race coverage live and to see the full write up on the women’s race.
GO FLORA !!
