On Saturday Tyler Butterfield raced in one of the oldest triathlons on the worldwide calendar, the non drafting St. Anthony’s Triathlon in St.Petersburg, Florida over 1500m swim, 40km bike and 10km run.
The race was a big favorite with Bermuda’s triathletes, especially in the 1980’s and 1990’s ,and is known for its flat but technical bike course, that includes cobbled sections, and brutal heat and humidity.
Tyler emerged from the water less than 30 secs behind the leader and put together a solid bike and run to finish 6th overall. He last raced at St. Anthony’s in 2002 as a rookie 21 year old when he finished 49th.
