13 year old Nick Pilgrim and 16 year old Lynsey Palmer produced outstanding races today to finish 1st male and female overall out of 33 competitors in the 2016 Caribbean Sprint Triathlon Championships in Miami, Florida. Lynsey was also 4th overall.
Nick and Lynsey exited the .25 mile swim together in the lead and although Nick was caught on the bike by Cameron Roach (men 35-39) on the 10 mile bike he produced the third fastest bike split. He then had easily the fastest 3.1 mile run split to win comfortably.
Meanwhile Lynsey had the fastest female bike split and a solid run to also win comfortably.
The Caribbean competitors started and raced alongside other competitors, mainly from the USA, and Nick, in his first longer distance race, was 6th overall male and Lynsey 2nd overall female amongst all starters.
