Following on from her emphatic win at the Tokio Millenium Triathlon, Ashley Estwanik produced another dominant performance on July 3rd at the XL Catlin Bermuda National Championships.

Competing in her first Olympic distance race in breezy and hot conditions at Clearwater Beach, Ashley not only took top women’s honours but was also first across the line, over six minutes ahead of men’s champion Steve Smith thanks to a solid swim and bike but largely to her run time of 39 mins 52 secs, easily the best run time of the day.

Steve Smith, who only took up triathlon three years ago, took full advantage of the absence of some of the island’s top triathletes to take the men’s national title.
