35 experienced and beginner triathletes braved the weather this past week to complete the 7th Annual Neill / Blake Triathlon Camp under the guidance of former professional triathletes and leading Canadian coaches Jasper Blake and Mike Neill.
The camp started with a Meet and Greet evening at which Anna Fitchett of Performance Rehab ( common triathlete injuries and how to avoid them) and Victoria Fiddick ( running technique) were the speakers.
Athletes then completed a week of swim, bike and run sessions with the beginners starting off with a triathlon 101 session and joining the more experienced triathletes for various sessions. The week culminated in a fun staggered start super sprint triathlon at Clearwater Beach on Saturday ( 4th March) with the coaches attempting to do the course back to back in speedos only with a 5 minute lead and beat the field. However they misjudged the lead they needed and finished last !
One of the most popular sessions was as always the joint advanced / beginners brick ( bike / run) session at the National Stadium Track using static trainers.
