Tyler Butterfield has not always had the best of luck on the bike portion of long distance racing and last Sunday was no exception.

Competing in Boulder, his adopted home in the USA, and infront of his family, Tyler suffered a slashed tyre when riding in 3rd position in the Boulder Ironman. Although he eventually got a replacement wheel, the wait cost him considerable time and in the end with little hope of a podium finish he decided to pull out of the race 10 miles into the run.

Tyler will now focus on some down time and an extended training period as he builds towards the Ironman World Championships.
