Tyler Smith produces strong finish ahead of Junior Elite World Championships.

Tyler Smith  (top left / third face down breathing left and just below athlete with light blue trim trisuit and head high out of the water) negotiated the tough swim start yesterday to emerge from the water a clear 1st in 9 min 36 secs for 750m 

Tyler Smith produced a strong performance on Sunday (27th August)  in the British U20’s Triathlon Festival  at Mallory Park in Leicestershire, England.

Tyler finished 5th (out of 57) in the Junior Male race with a time of 59:26

Tyler says he felt great during the race. He was first out of the water and was in the lead pack of 8 riders for the 20km bike.He then held on well in the run with a 16:09 for the 5km . Tyler was just 25 seconds off a podium finish in an event that contained the top British juniors vying for a place on the UK team at the Junior Elite World Championships in September.

The race was won by Ben Dijkstra (who earned his spot to the World Junior Championships  for the UK with this result) with a time of 57:59 after his blistering 14:43 5km run separated him from the rest of the leading athletes. Dijkstra is one of the favorites for Rotterdam.

Tyler says his training is right where he wants it to be in preparation for the World Championships which take place in Rotterdam on Sat. Sept. 16th.
