CALEB INGHAM – AN EXAMPLE OF GOOD SPORTSMANSHIP DESPITE WETSUIT PROBLEMS IN FLORIDA RACE

positiveDonna Pilgrim has provided this update on Caleb Ingham’s result at the FI Youth Elite Series race on Sunday in which he finished 19th.

Just wanted to flesh out Caleb’s result as you will have seen that his times didn’t really add up. He had a major wardrobe malfunction in T1 – the zipper on his wetsuit seized or got jammed and he couldn’t get it down – he struggled for 2.5 minutes and eventually an official stepped in and had to wrench it off. So, he was out in lead group from the swim, and ended up going out of T1 onto the bike course with swimmers who were 2.5 minutes behind him. Have to stay, he handled himself extremely well, stayed calm and made the most of the rest of the race. The F1 girls watching went up to him afterwards and said if it had been them, they’d have just burst into tears and dropped out!
Despite the setback, he made up time on other cyclists and ran himself into 13th in the F1 boys division.
