Ashley Couper crosses the line yesterday

Although Flora Duffy rightly stole the limelight on Saturday, there were also some great performance by Bermuda’s age group triathletes who earlier in the day had the opportunity to race in the age group standard distance and sprint distance races. For all of them, experienced and beginner triathletes alike, the chance to race on large parts of the same course as the professional triathletes and to finish on the blue carpet under the ITU finish banner was an experience that they will not forget.

Bermuda’s age groupers acquitted themselves well with Ashley Couper leading the way over the Standard Distance with an impressive overall win amongst the women in 2hrs 19 mins and 55 secs for the 1500m swim, 40km bike and 10km run. Ashley also took overall 40-49 age group honours.
