TOKIO MILLENIUM TRIATHLON ON TOMORROW

The Tokio Millenium Re Triathlon (also known now as the TMR Triathlon) gets underway tomorrow, Sunday 30th September, in Hamilton in what has proved to be the most popular race of the year in recent years.

Tokio Millenium Re have been fantastic sponsors of triathlon in Bermuda for many years now supporting not only our professional triathletes, Flora Duffy and Tyler Butterfield, but also the junior duathlon at the 2017 ITU World Cup weekend and also a number of junior camps.

Sunday’s race is however their flagship event focused around the transition point at Albuoys Point . The main senior event gets proceddings underway tomorrow with a 750m trangular swim in Hamilton Harbour starting and finishing at Albuoys Point . The 5 lap 20km bike takes participants left on Pitts Bay, onto Gorham Road and back down to Front Street via Bermudiana Road before headong out on Front Street and East Broadway to a turn point at Crow Lane then back the same route for the start of the next lap. The 5km run will then then take competitors along Front Street to King Street and back for three out and back laps.

As well as individual categories for the overall podium and age groupd categories from 16-19 to 60+, there will be teams competing in male, female, mixed, reinsurance and corporate categories.

There will also be a short Tri a Tri Triathlon at 8.05 PM aimed at newcomers to the sport with juniors competing in duathlons ( run / bike run) and getting underway at 10.10.

7-10 year olds will race over 1km run, 4km bike and 1km run in both mountain bike and racing bike categories. 11-15 year olds will race over 2km run 8km bike and 2km run in the same categories.

There is also a school category.
